Our Curriculum

Our Curriculum: A Holistic Approach to Early Learning
At Little Treasures, we believe in nurturing the whole child. Our broad, flexible, and challenging curriculum is thoughtfully designed to cater to your child’s physical, intellectual, spiritual, and social well-being.
Through a rich tapestry of well-planned activities, we empower children to develop crucial skills that lay the foundation for lifelong learning and success.
Developing Essential Skills
Our curriculum actively fosters the development of key skills, including:
Language and Communication
We encourage expressive and receptive language skills through storytelling, rhymes, songs, discussions, and dramatic play. Children develop their vocabulary, articulation, and the confidence to communicate effectively
Listening and Concentration
Engaging activities are designed to enhance children’s ability to listen attentively, follow instructions, and maintain focus, crucial skills for future academic endeavours.
Collaboration and Cooperation
Through group projects, shared play, and interactive tasks, children learn the importance of teamwork, sharing ideas, respecting others’ perspectives, and cooperating to achieve common goals.
Pre-Literacy Skills
We introduce foundational literacy concepts through phonological awareness activities, letter recognition, pre-writing exercises, and exposure to a wide range of books, sparking an early interest in reading and writing.
Pre-Numeracy Skills
Children are introduced to basic mathematical concepts through hands-on activities involving sorting, matching, counting, patterns, and problem-solving, building a strong foundation for future mathematical understanding.
General Child Development
Our curriculum supports the development of fine and gross motor skills through a variety of activities, promoting coordination, balance, and physical dexterity. We also nurture creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities through open-ended play and exploration.
Preschool Learning (Ages 3-5 Years): A Structured Foundation
For our preschool children aged 3 to 5 years, we implement a more structured learning program that thoughtfully blends the strengths of renowned educational frameworks:
The Foundation Stage of the British Curriculum
We integrate the key learning areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), focusing on Personal, Social and Emotional Development; Communication and Language; Physical Development; Literacy; Mathematics; Understanding the 1 World; and Expressive Arts and Design. 2 This framework provides a holistic approach to learning and development, ensuring children acquire essential skills and knowledge in a playful and engaging manner.
The Nigerian Curriculum
Recognizing the importance of cultural context, we seamlessly weave in elements of the Nigerian curriculum, exposing children to their heritage, traditions, and local environment. This ensures a sense of belonging and a strong connection to their roots.
Adapted Montessori Principles and Application
We incorporate key Montessori principles, such as child-led learning, hands-on exploration with specially designed materials, and fostering independence and a love for learning. Our classrooms are thoughtfully prepared environments that encourage self-discovery and individual growth.
By synergistically combining these educational philosophies, Little Treasures provides a rich, stimulating, and well-rounded curriculum that caters to the unique learning styles and developmental needs of each child, preparing them not only for academic success but also for a fulfilling and well-adjusted life.
